Using a computer to access the Internet or other software at any Melbourne Library Service location is now quicker and easier than ever before. Users are able to book their session online through any Internet enabled computer for use at any of the libraries.

Melbourne Library Service users can use the Internet and software for a maximum of 60 minutes per day.
CAE accredited course students may have up to 180 minutes per day.
Any unused time for that day is not rolled over.
You may make forward bookings everyday up to a week in advance.


You have 10 minutes in which to log on to your computer from the time it is booked. If you do not log on within 10 minutes your booking will automatically be cancelled.

To make a phone booking for a computer call one of our libraries:
  • City Library 9658 9500
  • East Melbourne Library 9658 9600
  • North Melbourne Library 9658 9700
You must have your barcode number and PIN ready (PIN - is the last four digits of your home phone number, unless you have changed it).


You can also book computers at any Melbourne Library Service location in 2 ways:

Scheduled
Bookings can be made at any of the public access catalogue terminals (iPAC) in the library, you will need your library card and your PIN.
  • Click on 'Book a Computer' and enter your library card barcode number and your PIN
  • Select the appropriate location, date, time and PC group
  • Confirm your booking
  • Note the number of your computer
  • Log off
At the time of your booking, the computer which has been assigned will display your library barcode number in orange.

Walk up
If a computer is vacant, the time the computer is available for will be displayed. If this is sufficient time, you can log on entering your library barcode number and your PIN.

Printing
In order to print or photocopy your Melbourne Library Service membership card must be credited using the Monitor credit facility.
Printing and photocopying is available at a cost of 20 cents per A4 page, 40 cents per A3 page.

We can not refund any credit left on your card, however, the unused portion of credit will remain available for next time. Anyone without a Melbourne Library Service membership card will need to obtain a facilities card from the Circulation Desk and then charge that with credit. Unused credit will not be refunded.

We ask that you use paper supplied by us at all times in order to avoid paper jams.
