Melbourne Library Service has one of the largest Collections of adult ESL (English as a Second Language) and English Literacy material in Australia. There are approximately 7500 items in two collections, with over 7000 items at City Library and approximately 420 items at North Melbourne.
At City Library the ENG Collection is located in the Frank Crean Independent Learning Centre on the Ground Floor of the Library. This Centre has an ESL/ English Literacy Collection, a study table, the Group Study Room and a Computer Laboratory containing eighteen computers.

Easy readers
Both fiction and non-fiction, at different levels of difficulty.
Easy reading kits
Contain book and cassette tapes that you can listen to while you read. Most kits contain tapes and not CDs.
At City Library there are two cassette/CD players on the Mezzanine Level near the Computer Lab which you can use with headphones.

Non-fiction
The collection specialises in books to improve your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Topics covered in the collection include numeracy and computing, biographies of famous people and Australian history and culture.
Special collections
There are several smaller collections including Dictionaries, Biographies of famous people, IELTS, English for Work and OET.
You may borrow five items from the ENG Collection at one time.
Computer programs
